Chelonian Research Monographs – Number 5

The fifth offering in this series, appearing in gradual fashion in online and hardcopy versions since 2008, is the following major work, produced under the auspices of the IUCN/SSC Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group (TFTSG). Publication of individual species accounts began online on the TFTSG website in May 2008.

Each species account is standardized to include color photos of the species, a color distribution map, and sections on Taxonomy, Distribution, Habitat and Ecology, Population Status, Threats to Survival, Conservation Measures Taken, Conservation Measures Proposed, Captive Husbandry, Current Research, and Literature Cited.

The project also includes an annual detailed and annotated checklist of all Turtles of the World, authored by the Turtle Taxonomy Working Group of the TFTSG.
